Good afternoon, everyone.
This post isn’t really about technology. Instead, I wanted to talk about what we’ve achieved this year, and to look forward to next year.
This year marked the 4th anniversary of the Teruko Ikeda ICT training programme, and it was better than ever. There were 8 trainees, and I think they all learned a lot about computers in a very short time.
Every year our curriculum changes, and this year we started to teach Microsoft Office 2007. After a few initial problems, all of the trainees soon learned how to become productive in this new and challenging environment. We also used Microsoft Excel for the first time, and introduced the trainees to RSS feeds, podcasts and the WinAmp media player.
We don’t yet know what we will teach in 2008, but technology is always changing, so the curriculum is likely to be different in some ways. One possibility is blogging, because blogs are now a very popular way to share information on the Internet. If you have any ideas about the kind of things we should teach in the 2008 training, please let us know.
One thing I know for sure is that next year’s Teruko Ikeda ICT programme will be just as good as 2007′s, and I’m really looking forward to meeting all of the new trainees.
By the way, application forms for the 2008 programme should be available from January, so please make sure you download one if you intend to recommend someone.
Before I finish, I hope that all of you have a wonderful holiday season, and a very happy and successful 2008.
