Introduction to computer programming using Python

This course will teach you how to write a simple computer programme in the Python programming language.
Python is widely used in the IT industry. You can use it to make database-driven web applications or GUI software for use on a desktop computer.

We will use Python version 2.7 in this class, as not all of the libraries and modules we need are available for Python 3. You can download Python 2.7 by clicking this link, and you can find a good beginners’ level Python tutorial here.
Introduction to Ubuntu Linux and the Orca screen reader

Ubuntu Linux is a freely available operating system. It includes a free software speech synthesiser and a powerful screen reader called Orca. Participants will learn how to use the Gnome desktop and the Orca screen reader.
